Season 5 of Stranger Things returned with its second set of episodes which presented a major rupture, possible deaths – and Will talks about his sexuality.
THE second part of the last season of the series premiered on Thursday December 25 with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) trying to maintain control of the Upside Down. Maximum (Sadie Sink) and Holly (Nell Fisher) makes it difficult for him and he quickly understands that Will (Noah Schnapp) also has access to his mind.
Luckily, Max was able to find his way back to Hawkins – but Holly couldn’t. Instead, she’s even more trapped than all the kids – except Derek (Jake Connelly) – turn against her. The rest of the group must find a way to take down the big bad as they learn more about his history.
Dustin (Matarazzo Gate) demonstrates that the Upside Down is actually a bridge between the real world and a place full of exotic matter, aka The Abyss. Vecna’s final plan is to merge the two worlds, which they must stop.
Before going into battle, El (Millie Bobby Brown) is convinced by Kali (Linnéa Berthelsen) that they can’t save the world and come back. Kali instead tells Eleven to stays behind and disappears for their own good.
There’s also Will, who realizes he needs to be honest about his biggest fear before seeing Vecna again. He tells his loved ones that he is gay and receives their support as they prepare to risk their lives one last time.

After discovering her son’s powers, Joyce (Winona Ryder) convinces Will to accept them. This pushes Will to help Holly but it also traps him briefly. Joyce gets support from her boyfriend Hopper (David Harbor) and she is there when Will returns. Joyce is also there for Will when he comes out to everyone.

David Harbor
Courtesy of NetflixHopper and Eleven begin at odds when she realizes he was planning to help save her – but not himself. The divide deepens when he sees Kali influencing Eleven…more on that later.

The second part of the final season shows Mike there to help when needed. He also has a conversation with Eleven about their future where he remains more optimistic while she is not as sure that she will be safe once Vecna is destroyed. Mike is also there when Will comes out – and mentions his crush on a close friend – but it’s unclear if Mike realizes it was him.

Back to Kali’s conversation with Eleven, the second part shows Kali telling Eleven that she will never escape people like Dr. Kay (Linda Hamilton). The new villain used Kali’s blood to attempt to create new “weapons” in the form of children with psychokinetic and telepathic powers. To achieve this, Dr Kay pumps pregnant women full of Kali’s blood but she realizes that she actually needs Eleven’s blood, which was created from Henry’s blood.

Following an emotional argument, Dustin and Steve (Joe Keery) solve their problems. Steve insults Eddie (Joseph Quinn) for being a hero who got himself killed, but Dustin admits he can’t lose Steve the same way. Dustin also discovers that exotic matter surrounds the Upside Down and conceals the fact that the Abyss exists just above it.

As Max returns to the real world, Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) plays a big role in being there for her. He carries his body to make sure Vecna doesn’t get to him first and is there once she needs help adjusting.

Nancy by Natalia Dyer can finally talk to Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) about their stagnant relationship. When she admits she doesn’t know what she wants, she breaks up with Jonathan in a subtle moment.

Similarity, Jonathan confesses to Nancy everything he has hidden from her – including his plans to propose. They don’t actually get engaged, but separate. He is present and supports Will as his brother reveals himself to everyone.

A conversation with Vecna makes Will realize that he helped build the Upside Down while his mind was possessed all those years ago. He feels bad about the role he played and is even more determined to make sure Vecna loses her powers.
But before that, Vecna shows Will a version of a future where those close to him don’t accept him for who he is. It inspires him to face his fear and grow out of it – and he finds support and love.

After two years in a trance, Max manages to return to the real world. However, she first spends time with Holly and convinces her that she can also come back from the Upside Down. This doesn’t happen because Vecna has a strong hold on Holly, so Max feels guilty. However, she manages to find Lucas and is in a wheelchair. she regains her strength.

Keery’s Steve lives to see another day as most of Part 2 is him dealing with his issues with Dustin. He also thinks about the plan that is set in motion at the end.

In the new series of episodes, Robin (Maya Hawke) can tell Vickie (Amybeth McNulty) the truth about what is happening.

With the help of Erica (Priah Ferguson), Mr. Clarke (Randy Havens) is finally aware of everything that is happening in Hawkins.

Vecna’s story is revealed as Max and Holly I see him in the cave trying to help a man. The unknown stranger shoots Henry when he was a child and Henry then beats him to death. The rest of part two shows Vecna trying to control the situation as Holly, Max and Will complicate her plan. The final scene shows Vecna holding a seance where he takes charge of all the children.
