“FAMILIAR FACES”: Amazon’s Ring video doorbells are getting a major artificial intelligence (AI) upgrade, and it’s already causing controversy. The company has started rolling out a new feature called Familiar faces to Ring owners across the United States. Once enabled, the feature uses AI-based facial recognition to identify people who regularly show up at your door. Instead of a generic alert that someone is at your door, you might see something much more personal, like “Mom at the front door.” On the surface, this seems practical.
“FORMING AHEAD”: The recently launched GénAI This tool for American military and War Department employees constitutes a “crucial first step” for the future of warfare, according to a military expert. This month, the Pentagon announced the launch of GenAI.mil, a military-grade AI platform powered by Google Gemini. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the platform is designed to give U.S. military personnel direct access to AI tools to help “revolutionize.”[e] the way we win.

POWER CHANGE: China is ahead of the United States in artificial intelligence (AI), bypassing regulatory barriers which, O’Leary Ventures Chairman Kevin O’Leary warns, are leaving America dangerously behind.

In an article on X, Patel said the FBI has advanced its technology, calling AI “key element” of its strategy to respond to threats and stay “one step ahead”.

WHO IS IN CHARGE? : A week after Time Magazine named the “AI Architects” people of the year, the latest Fox News National Investigation of registered voters find broad support for cautious development of artificial intelligence – but little agreement on who should regulate it. The poll, released Thursday, finds that 8 in 10 voters favor a cautious approach to AI development to manage potential risks to the United States, while 2 in 10 voters prefer rapid progress to stay ahead of countries like China.
