Chevy Chasethe daughter of, Caley Chasetalks about her famous father’s near-fatal health problems in a new documentary.

In 2021, it was reported that the Saturday evening live The former student was in a coma for about eight days after suffering heart failure during the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, the actor spent five weeks in the hospital due to unspecified heart problems.
“Something was wrong, and he couldn’t explain to me what was wrong,” Chevrolet’s wife, Jayni Chase, said in the documentary that premiered Jan. 1 on CNN. “So we came to the emergency room. His heart stopped. During those years of drinking, he had cardiomyopathy – when the heart muscles weaken and can no longer pump as much blood with each beat.”
Chevrolet’s long-time friend, Peter Aaronalso sat in front of the documentary cameras, revealing that the eight-day coma had been “pretty tough” on the actor’s body.
“They decided to put him in a coma for maybe eight days,” Aaron said. “It’s pretty hard on the body.”
Caley added: “The doctor warned us, ‘We may not get it back. We don’t know how bad it will be. Prepare for the worst.’ He woke up, all he could do was use his voice.
Fearing that her father had been permanently altered by his illness and subsequent coma, Caley described the moment she realized her father was the same old Chevrolet after a nurse entered his room to change medical equipment.

In 2021, Chevrolet released a press statement after he was finally able to safely leave the hospital.
“I can only say how happy I am to be back with my family,” said the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation » said the star at the time. “I feel good. I’ve been in the hospital for five weeks. A heat problem. So, for now, I’m at home. I’m not going anywhere.”
Chevrolet’s friend Aaron said it took some time for the actor to “reorient himself” after the coma, adding that he suffered from “cognitive disabilities” and memory problems.
“I feel like his memory lapses came from that incident,” Aaron told the cameras.
Chevrolet agreed, adding: “According to the doctors, my memory would be erased. That’s what happened here.”
By Varietythere are times in the documentary where Chevrolet doesn’t remember what happened during his stay SNL.
“Heart failure is what it is. I’m fine now,” Chevrolet said in the document, according to Variety. “It’s just that it affects memory, the doctors told me that. So I have to remember things.”
According to the media outlet, Chevrolet also shared its frank reaction to its exclusion from SNLStar’s 50th anniversary celebration, which featured a slew of former cast members and hosts.
“It was actually quite upsetting,” he told the documentary cameras. “This is probably the first time I’ve said it. But I expected that I would also be on stage with all the other actors. When Attic [Morris] And Laraine [Newman] I went on stage there, I was curious why I didn’t do it. Nobody asked me. Why was I left out?
He continued: “I talked about it once in a text to Lorne [Michaels] then I took it again. I said, ‘Okay, I’ll take it back, stupid.’ But it’s not that stupid. Someone made a big mistake. I don’t know who it was, but someone made a mistake. They should have had me on stage. It hurt.
