PETA has slammed Kim Kardashian after she gave each of her four children a Pomeranian puppy for Christmas, sparking backlash online.

The reality TV star, 45, showcased the dogs during the holidays, sparking strong reactions from animal welfare advocates and social media users.

In a statement obtained by the Daily Mail, Ingrid Newkirk, the founder of PETA, condemned the decision, calling the puppies “not stuffed animals.”

She added that “it’s such a shame that Kim missed the opportunity to be a spokesperson for shelter puppies and is instead rightfully criticized on social media for it.”

Newkirk suggested that Kim and her sisters could “try to make amends” by asking their children “to volunteer at a local shelter or[by] pay for an adoption marathon at a local shelter or at least a day of spaying or neutering to help end the growing homeless puppy crisis.

Kim shared a photo of the four dogs snuggled together on her couch, announcing, “Every kid has a puppy.”

Fans were quick to criticize the decision, pointing out that pets shouldn’t be casual gifts and expressing concern about the responsibilities that come with caring for multiple animals.

The comments included warnings that giving each child a separate dog could harm the bond between siblings and their pets.

This isn’t the first time Kim has faced scrutiny over her pets. She already has two Pomeranians, Sushi and Sake, adopted with her sister Kourtney in 2017.

The family attracted criticism in 2022 when North West shared a TikTok showing the dogs living in a garage, wearing tiny coats.

The video featured the animals in a large enclosure with pee pads, next to a mini Christmas tree and stockings.

Many fans felt this setup was inadequate and criticized Kim for not providing a more dog-friendly living space.

Meanwhile, Khloe also expanded her pet family this Christmas, welcoming a Labrador named Peppermint for her daughters True and Tatum.

Kim Kardashian struggles to get the perfect holiday family photo in cute post

Kim shared her attempts to take a vacation photo with her four children, North, 12; Saint, 10 years old; Chicago, 7; and Psalm 6, highlighting how difficult it can be to fit everyone into the frame.

In six photos posted, different combinations of children appeared, but never all four together. In the one shot where they were all in the frame, North was walking out and Saint seemed blurry as he moved.

Kim captioned the Dec. 22 post, “I really tried” and included a lip-syncing video with North to Ken Carson’s “Thx.”
