According to some reports, aggressive keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is unlikely to feature in the ODI squad for the three-match home series against New Zealand, which will be played in January 2026. Pant is already out of favor in T20Is. He was not selected in the T20I squad for the series against the Kiwis as well as the 2026 T20 World Cup. His last T20I appearance was in July 2024.
According to a report in India Today, the selectors are likely to prefer in-form Ishan Kishan over Panting for the one-day matches against New Zealand. Kishan is in great form in domestic cricket and has already been selected for the T20 World Cup. The report adds that there is also an outside chance of Jitesh Sharma being selected.
