Amir Khan names one fighter he would consider ending retirement for

Amir Khan hung up his gloves in 2022 after a loss to Kell Brook, but he never completely closed the door on a return to the ring.

The great British boxer looked well past his best when he and Brook finally went through the ropes together and were stopped in six rounds. It capped a career that saw Khan win the unified welterweight championship, scoring wins over Zab Judah and Marcos Maidana.

Speaking recently to Boxing at the clubhouseHe was asked if his recent promotional work around the sport made him want to compete again, only naming Manny Pacquiao as someone who might give it a shot.

“It depends on the dance partner. If it’s a dance partner that I think I can do well against, or that I know well, then yes. Like a Manny Pacquiao. We’ve fought so many times.”

Khan has made it clear in recent years that he is still interested in the fight he could never have won as a professional, and in the fact that Pacquiao competed professionally this year – a draw against WBC welterweight world champion Mario Barrios – and intends to do so again in 2026.makes it at least a possibility.

However, he then gave the answer most fans will want here: other businesses keep him busy enough to stay retired.

“Look, I’ve been asked to do exhibitions or fights a lot. I’m busy with other things now – promotion, real estate, commentary work, television. I stay busy.”

Although a return seems unlikely at this point, with Pacquiao back in the game and ready to fight both legends and current champions, a call-up could be imminent.
