Calvert-Lewin came on as part of a move involving all 11 visiting players, equalizing within two minutes of the restart as the Whites moved seven points clear of the relegation zone and extended their unbeaten run to five matches.
A draw perhaps reflects the balance of a see-saw competition containing great attacking ambition from both sides, with Sunderland, who are now three games unbeaten after drawing their last two, remaining seventh.
Leeds are next in action against Liverpool, with whom they drew 3-3 on December 6, Thursday (5:30 p.m. GMT / 12:30 p.m. ET / 9:30 a.m. PT).

Luke O’Nien was serving the final match of a three-match suspension for being sent off during the 3-0 defeat at Manchester City on December 6, and central defender Aji Alese is out with a shoulder injury.
