Cristiano Ronaldo has vowed to reach the 1,000-goal milestone after being named Middle East Player of the Year at a ceremony in Dubai this evening.
The 40-year-old is 44 goals away from reaching four figures after scoring another brace for Al-Nassr during their 3-0 victory against Al-Akhdoud yesterday afternoon.
Ronaldo recently signed a new contract which will keep him at the Saudi club until 2027 and the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is confident he will continue to score goals provided he stays fit.
He said: “My goal is always to score goals, win more trophies and continue to push myself to achieve new personal goals. My passion is great and I want to continue. It doesn’t matter where I play, whether it’s in the Middle East or Europe.
“I will definitely reach 1,000 goals if I stay injury-free.”
Yesterday’s routine victory against Al-Akhdoud was Al-Nassr’s 10th on the trot to start the season and they remain on track to clinch their first title since 2019.
Ronaldo has scored 12 league goals this season, one fewer than teammate and fellow Portuguese Joao Felix.
