Andre Onana involved in physical confrontation after Cameroon defeat

Andre Onana has had a turbulent time at Manchester United since arriving two years ago, and now critics have followed him on international duty with Cameroon.

The goalkeeper made a costly mistake during his country’s clash with Cape Verde, failing to come off his line to neutralize striker Dailon Livramento. The striker calmly headed home in the 54th minute, giving Cape Verde a surprise 1-0 victory.

Frustration came to a head after the match when fans stormed the pitch. A fan approached Onana from behind, phone in hand, appearing to be filming or taking a photo. The goalkeeper reacted angrily, pushing the fan away with his hand covering the fan’s face – an incident captured by another spectator recording from the front.

The fan responded by throwing a water bottle at Onana before being kicked out.

The flashpoint comes at a time of upheaval for the 28-year-old, with Manchester United recently signing Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

A loan move to Turkish club Trabzonspor has now been finalized, with the two clubs reaching an agreement before the international break.

For fans of the Turkish club, the hope will be that Onana can not only rebuild his career on the pitch, but also keep his composure.
