Gus Atkinson EXCLUDED from cricket after Ashes injury


On Monday, December 29, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officially announced that star pacer Gus Atkinson has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2025-26 Ashes.

Gus Atkinson was ruled out of the fifth and final Test after suffering a hamstring injury during the fourth Test match which the Three Lions won at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) within 2 days of the match.

In an official statement released regarding Gus Atkinson, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said that scans have revealed a hamstring injury.

“England seamer Gus Atkinson has been ruled out for the remainder of the Ashes tour after scans confirmed he had suffered a left hamstring injury.

“The Surrey right-armer left the field after bowling his fifth innings during Australia’s second innings in England’s victory at the MCG in the fourth Test.

“England will not name a replacement for the fifth Test, which begins in Sydney on January 4,” the ECB said.
