Manchester United will look to end another difficult year on a positive note when they host Wolves at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.
After beating Newcastle on Boxing Day, the Red Devils aim for back-to-back victory Premier League victories against a Wolves team anchored at the bottom of the table.
Amorim’s record at Old Trafford has steadily improved, with five wins in the club’s last eight home league matches after winning just four of their first 14.
United have also enjoyed recent success against Wolves, winning eight of the last 11 meetings between the sides, including a 4-1 victory at Molineux earlier this month.
However, the hosts have lost their final league game of the calendar year in each of the last two seasons and will be keen to avoid another fall against opponents facing an uphill battle for survival.
Wolves arrive in Manchester having won just one of their last league matches in the last six calendar years, although that solitary success came in a 1-0 win at Old Trafford in April.
The result stands out in an otherwise bleak period for the Midlands club, who have now lost 25 Premier League matches in 2025 and are in danger of equaling Ipswich Town’s unwanted record of 26 defeats in a single calendar year.
Without a win in 18 league matches this season, Wolves have picked up just two points and are 16 points from safety.
Manchester United remain without several players due to injuries and international duty, including Fernandes, while Mason Mount is a major doubt after being withdrawn at half-time against Newcastle.
Kobbie Mainoo, Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire are all absent, while Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui are missing for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Amorim could once again deploy Patrick Dorgu in an advanced role following the recent rise of the winger, who has contributed to two goals in his last two matches.
Benjamin Sesko should lead the line, supported by Matheus Cunha, who faces his former club.
For Wolves, centre-backs Toti Gomes and Emmanuel Agbadou are unavailable, although Hugo Bueno has returned from injury at Anfield.
Rodrigo Gomes, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Marshall Munetsi, Daniel Bentley and Tawanda Chirewa are also absent.
As Jorgen Strand Larsen struggles for form, Tolu Arokodare could continue to partner Mateus Mane in attack.
Manchester United: Lammens; Yoro, Ciel, Martines; Dalot, Casemiro, Ugart, Shaw; Dorgu, Cunha; Sesco
Wolves: Its; Mosquera, S. Bueno, Krejci; Doherty, J. Gomes, André, H. Bueno; Hwang, Mane; Arokodare

Goals look likely as United’s vulnerable defense comes up against the league’s most porous team.
While Wolves have shown fight under their new manager, the lack of confidence and depth in their squad should allow United to secure a narrow victory and end the year on a more positive note.
