Report, result and goals as Salah’s team finds themselves in an impasse

Angola And Egypt played to a goalless draw in a closely contested match African Cup of Nations encounter in the group stage, with both teams creating chances but lacking the finishing touch to break the deadlock.

The first half was physical and fragmented, with frequent fouls disrupting the rhythm. Egypt enjoyed more sustained periods of possession, while Angola threatened sporadically on the break and from set pieces.

Egypt went close through Mostafa Mohamed, who shot wide from a tight angle before heading in from close range following a corner.

Angola responded with efforts of their own, notably when Mabululu tested Mostafa Shobeir twice from inside the box, forcing the Egyptian goalkeeper into strong saves.

Neither team managed to find a clear breakthrough before the break.

Pressure in the second half without reward

Angola appeared with more intent after the restart and went close to scoring when Fredy hit the post from a direct free kick shortly after half-time.

Egypt responded by increasing their tempo, with Zizo and Ibrahim Adel both forcing saves from Hugo Marques.

As the match progressed, chances began to present themselves for both sides. Manuel Benson posed a constant threat to Angola, shooting narrowly wide on several occasions, while M’Bala Nzola also went close on the counter. Egypt continued to explore large areas, but struggled to convert promising positions into clear chances.

The closing stages saw Angola battling for the winner, with Benson and Show both attempting long-range efforts in stoppage time, but neither could find the target. Egypt remained compact defensively and faced pressure to score a point.

The draw does not change much in the ranking. Egypt are already through to the round of 16 after winning their first two matches, while Angola finished third and are hoping for a miracle to qualify.
