Nintendo brings back late-night console launches with debut of Switch 2

Nintendo The game console at the end of the evening was rejected tonight while people around the world were online to get the Nintendo Switch 2.

For the first time in eight years, Nintendo fans had the chance to wait as good days because they spent hundreds of dollars per song on the new game console and its accessories. The Switch 2 replaces the Switch, which made its debut in 2017 and sold 150 million units.

I waited online and bought the new Nintendo store at Union Square in San Francisco. The first was Dean, 15, who was dressed like an Irish lepercuan. He told me that he arrived at 7 a.m., Pacific time, about 2 p.m. before the launch of the Pacific at 9 p.m. However, he said he was happy to drop $ 1,000 on the $ 500 switch (or $ 50 less if you do not buy the Mario Kart World pack). It was his first console launch event.

I now spent $ 850 in the Nintendo store in SF.

At the cash register, the Nintendo dignitaries were trained by their superiors to pass the console from a dignitary (EVP of Nintendo of America Devon Pritchard) to another until Dean was given to him by Bill Trinen.

The San Francisco store is only the second in the United States and it opened just a few weeks ago. The other Nintendo store is in New York. Greg Miller, the famous media, was there.

Dean, 15, was the first online at the Nintendo Store at SF for a Nintendo 2 switch.

It was good to go to launch the console, even if there was a long wait and a relatively small number of people waiting at the beginning. At the end of the evening, however, the crowd appeared, some disguised as their favorite Nintendo characters. I got out of the door with around $ 750 in Merch, including my Switch 2 and his flagship game, Mario Kart World. I was also able to play a few turns of KO on the world match of Mario Kart on the Switch 2. I met a creator there who remembered me like the Guy de Cuphead. Fortunately, I did not come in last place in Mario Kart World during my second try.

As I left, the crowd had become longer.

The Orné store is a paradise for Nintendo fans, with unique equipment for San Francisco alone in the form of t-shirts and other equipment. There are 12 statues of pikmin hidden throughout the store, with accessories installed at tables for favorite franchises like Mario, Princess Peach, Zelda, Pikmin, Pokemon, Splatoon, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Animal Crossing and more.

Try before buying.

I suspect that the Switch 2 will do very well, even if most games are at the service of the franchises. In fact, Nintendo culture is so great with things like Mario Kart and the film Super Mario Bros. (which made $ 1.4 billion at the box office) that people want to engage with it in each promenade of life – including in retail stores.

This fan begins young.

Even if these “midnight launches” are increasingly rare, I encourage fans to try them from time to time. They do not occur as often as before, because for certain companies, digital sales represent 95% of all income for games. I was able to remember the other journalists of the game on the way there was more of us to attend events like this.

It was worth hearing the employees of the Nintendo Applaud and Dean store holds the first console over his head of glory while he was leaving the door.
