Western Ham have moved in with an offer to sign a highly-rated striker wanted by Man United after opening negotiations with his club, according to a new report.
The Hammers find themselves in dire straits, occupying eighteenth place in the table. Premier League standings with just 13 points in 18 matches after their last defeat against Fulham.
West Ham are five points from safety and are in alarming relegation form, having taken just three points from their last seven games without recording a single win in their previous six league matches.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have managed just three wins all season and won just two home matches, while their defensive record has been abysmal with 36 goals conceded and just one clean sheet managed throughout the campaign.
The numbers paint a grim picture.
West Ham currently have fewer points after 17 rounds than in the 2010/11 season, when they were relegated to the Championship under Avram Grant, and the atmosphere at the London Stadium has become toxic.
Supporters demonstrate regularly David Sullivan and Karren Brady’s management of the club after an alarming slide that saw them go from regular European contenders under David Moyes to relegation candidates, with some reports even suggesting that Nuno no longer safe in West Ham hot seat.
However, the Portuguese will still have more time to turn things around and West Ham are expected to back him in January.
One of the items on West Ham’s transfer agenda is a new striker.
The Irons simply need a new number nine with Niclas Füllkrug leaving for AC Milan, and the Fulham winger is believed to Adama Traore set to join West Ham next month as well.
Now, according to Africa Foot, they also have their eyes on young RB Salzburg winger Moussa Yeo.
According to their sources, West Ham have submitted a £7million offer to Salzburg for the Malian striker as Nuno desperately seeks attacking reinforcements to help the club fight for relegation.
AfricaFoot reports that West Ham have contacted Salzburg directors about the 21-year-old and talks remain ongoing over a possible January deal, with the east Londoners looking to sign him “as soon as” the window opens.
The Austrian club is also willing to sanction his departure next month. However, Salzburg also requires a ten percent resale clause as part of any deal.
The Mali international has made 19 appearances this season in all competitions for Salzburg, contributing one goal and three assists while demonstrating his ability to play as a dynamic striker.
Africa Foot says Yeo is also on Man United’s radar, demonstrating how he is highly rated in Premier League circles, with Nuno’s side now joining the hunt and looking to get ahead of them.
