In addition to a regular injection of hero And bad guys from the Marvel multiverse, RivalsCosmetic skins kept the game fresh with riffs on iconic comic book looks and homages to the films. from the MCU (and beyond), and lots of fun original ideas. After a few teases here and there in recent weeks, NetEase today revealed the first official look at one of its most intriguing skin ideas yet: a full gender-swapped version of Loki. Inspired by Lady Loki’s appearance after her rebirth after Ragnarok in 2007 Thor run, the new skin isn’t just a model change for Loki as he currently appears in the game; it comes with its own unique animations and voice acting, provided by Dan Da Danis Abby Trott (who already knows the Rivals community as the voice of Illyana Rasputina, aka Magik). On top of that, she has fun and unique emotes and the usual MVP special animation.

There have been many Rivals skins in the past that have already changed voice lines and sound effects, and many skins that bring drastic overhauls to a given character’s silhouette. And of course there have been numerous skins covering the entire Rivals” Cast, both male and female, with a bit of risky skin. But what sets Lady Loki apart is what she represents in terms of a complete character gender swap, which Rivals I’ve never done it before (apart from creative PC modders do it themselves for fun, of course).
This opens a very interesting set of floodgates for what the game could do next in terms of similar skins for other members of its roster. Loki’s brother Thor is of course an easy potential next step, giving us a skin based on Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor. Even though they are distinct characters in the comics, the arrival of Deadpool The game’s arrival in the coming weeks could leave us open to a Gwenpool variation, or one of Spider’s many female heroines could become Peter’s replacement. It’s not just about gender swaps, but it could even reflect shared identities and roles, like Jean Gray and Madelyne Pryor, being flayed by Jean. fiery phoenix abilities with the demonic powers of the Goblin Queen.
