Australia’s T20 World Cup squad officially announced; Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Tim David


On Thursday 1 January, Cricket Australia (CA) officially announced the Australian national cricket team squad for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The Australian selectors have decided to turn their attention to the spin-heavy team by looking at the conditions expected to be on offer in India and Sri Lanka during the showpiece event.

The selection committee also named the trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David in the squad despite their injuries and George Bailey said they are currently recovering well.

“The T20 team has enjoyed a long run of recent success, which has enabled the panel to choose a balance of players from the variety of conditions that Sri Lanka and India can present,” said selection chairman George Bailey.

“Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David are on track and we are confident they will be available for the World Cup.

“This is a preliminary team, so if any changes need to be made, they will do so before the support period.

“A squad for the three-match T20 series against Pakistan preceding the World Cup will be named at a later date.”
