Zohran Mamdani becomes New York’s first Muslim mayor


Democratic politician Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as New York City’s first Muslim mayor.

New York Attorney General Letitia James oversaw his inauguration at midnight, as the city ushers in the new year.

Mamdani’s wife, artist Rama Duwaji, handed him a Quran on which Mamdani took an oath.
