Tottenham star agrees £35m move to Palace

Crystal Palace are set to sign Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson for £35million after the Wales international agreed to the move on Thursday, with final medical checks due to take place on Friday.

The 24-year-old is expected to be named in Palace’s squad for their trip to Newcastle on Sunday (15:00 GMT) in a deal that would add attacking depth to Oliver Glasner’s squad as the Eagles balance their domestic campaign by playing in the Conference League.

The fee would represent the fourth biggest sale in Tottenham’s history, behind Gareth Bale, Harry Kane and Kyle Walker.

Johnson finished the 2024/25 season as Tottenham’s top scorer with 18 goals in 51 matches in all competitions, but his role has diminished since the appointment of Thomas Frank as manager in June, starting six of Spurs’ 17 league matches this season.

Tottenham’s attacking options have increased, particularly following the arrival of Mohammed Kudus, who has largely replaced Johnson on the right wing.

Dejan Kulusevski has also been used primarily in this position, although the Sweden international has not played since May after undergoing knee surgery.

Johnson progressed through Nottingham Forest’s academy and top-scored as the club won promotion to the Premier League in 2021/22.

The former England youth international joined Spurs in September 2023 in a deal worth £47.5 million and registered five goals and 11 assists in his first season under Ange Postecoglou, helping the club qualify for the Europa League.

During a remarkable 2024/25 campaign, Johnson’s five Europa League goals included the winner final as Tottenham beat Manchester United to win their first trophy in 17 years.

He has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, operating on both flanks and scoring four goals.
