Gronkowski, known for his infectious personality as much as revered for his skills on the football field, caught everyone’s attention by performing some cheeky dance moves before the ball dropped. However, things almost went wrong when the Super Bowl champion nearly took a hard fall before recovering on cue.

As seen on TikTok, Gronkowski brought all the energy to the “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” celebration, dancing with Hough and other notable figures to pop star McRae’s hit single “Sports Car.” While moving and turning, Gronkowski appeared to lose his footing and stumbled to the ground. However, before the NFL star was seriously injured, he caught himself and finished the routine with a silly pose.

“Gronk addressed the stage and his audition for ‘Dancing With the Stars,'” Hough captioned his video of the moment, prompting fans to start clamoring for the former New England Patriots player to appear on the competition series. “Please we need Gronk on DWTS,” someone wrote, to which another added, “He will definitely be in the next season.”

Rob Gronkowski was seen letting loose before taking the stage

Gronkowski’s moves on stage weren’t much of a surprise, however, as the 36-year-old was seen practicing his skills shortly before the event began. In a video he shared, Gronkowski is seen moving his body, sliding on the ground and thrusting his hips. “I thought there was no way these measures would work,” he captioned the video.

Like in the clip above, fans really enjoyed watching Gronkowski’s choreography, as one wrote, “No one can ever make me hate this man,” and another shared, “D-mn, this is perfection.”

Although Gronkowski’s peers in the NFL don’t dance to McRae, honing his performance skills has always been a goal of his. Talk with Entertainment tonight About his appearance as the White Tiger on Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” Gronkowski said he “always” wanted to learn how to sing and dance.

“Once I got the opportunity, I really didn’t know exactly what I was getting myself into. Now that I had some free time, I figured why not? I’ve always wanted to be part of a singing show,” he said.

Gronkowski also reflected on how being a part of the “Masked Singer” and playing in the league are similar. “You feel a little bit of tremors, your nerves rumbling just before you go on stage and before a big match,” he said. “It’s definitely different conditioning. It just opens up a whole new aspect in your body. It feels good when you’re done.”

He shared his experience on Instagram, saying he “learned a lot” before thanking those who supported him.

During a podcast appearance, Gronkowski confirmed that he never spent a dime of his money in the NFL. “I always wanted to save it, and I just used my money that I was getting off the field to spend on whatever I needed. Technically, I didn’t spend any of my money in the NFL,” he said.
