The New Year is here, and in a few weeks, it will be too Wonderful man. Marvel next TV series has left December 2025 for later this month, and a new trailer reminds you that it’s not that far away, and finally establishes some big stakes.
Plot-wise, we know that Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is looking to land the title role in a superhero reboot of the old pulp film. Wonderful man. As the trailer says, he has a problem: he has superpowers, and he’s trying to hide them so as not to hurt his chances of becoming a top actor. His efforts to hide his secret lead him to former Mandarin Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), and it seems like things are going well!… Until we see Damage Control in Los Angeles and Agent Cleary (Arian Moayed) calling Simon an “extraordinary threat.”
Previous trailers have played coyly about what Simon can do, and this new one gives a deeper look at his power set, namely his super strength and a look at his ionic powers. (It remains to be seen how well he mastered them and how he got them.) He also wants you to watch the series because of its large, award-winning cast: in addition to name-checking Mateen II’s Emmy win and Kingsley’s Oscar win, the trailer spotlights Guldbagge Award winner Zlatko Burić, previously seen in Superman and here playing Von Kovak, director of the universe Wonderful man remake.
All episodes of Wonderful man will be released on January 27 on Disney+.
