Former WWE Champion Was Frustrated After Recent Major Tournament AEW event. He sent a bold message after this week’s Dynamite, looking ahead to the new year.
The aforementioned star, who is also a former AEW World Champion, is Swerve Strickland. The former Hit Row member made his return at Full Gear 2025 and was immediately inserted into the World Championship picture. At the recent Worlds End 2025 pay-per-view, he was part of a four-way match for the world title, which was won by MJFwho used underhanded tactics to become the new champion.
In the following episode of Dynamite, Strickland and Hangman Adam Page confronted MJF and were visibly angry, right after Kenny Omega also sent him a message via the titantron. After this appearance, he took his to drop photos from this segment, and looks forward to 2026 with a strong message.
At All In Texas in July 2025, Swerve Strickland provided a major assist to his main rival, “Hangman” Adam Page, by defeating Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Championship. During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Strickland admitted that although the two hated each other, they also needed each other.
“I can’t get to the world title without him, but I’m also not losing all of this without him. So we kind of need each other. We hate each other, but we need each other. We’ve gotten better, too. People were talking about Hangman becoming a main eventer, as world champion in 2023. They were saying, we need to look past Hangman, it’s Will Ospreay’s time now, because that he just wasn’t there. Mentally, he just went, “I wasn’t there. I broke it, but I also did it intentionally, because I know Hangman is that guy,” Swerve detailed.
While the former WWE Superstar failed to win the World Championship in late 2025, it remains to be seen what 2026 has in store for him.
