Iranian protests grow as they enter their sixth day

The current protests in Iran, now in their sixth day, have become the largest since 2022, when the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody sparked nationwide protests. Although the protests were rooted in economic issues, demonstrators chanted slogans against Iran’s theocracy. US President Donald Trump has threatened that the United States could intervene if protesters are killed, prompting government officials to denounce a “red line”.
