Talk with Men’s healthDeFord said losing 275 pounds over the past five years has given him a new burst of energy he hasn’t felt in decades. “I feel like a teenager, dog,” he said, referring to his sex life with his wife, Bunnie Xo. “I have the libido of a 17-year-old again. I throw myself at my wife. We have sex during the day again. It’s great.”
According to a previous report from The explosionThe country singer previously opened up about how being 500 pounds negatively impacted his sex life, comparing sex to a game of Twister. “Left foot here, right foot in the X. You know, are we in there already? Tell me if you feel anything,” he said, calling the experience “bad.”

In December 2025, DeFord made headlines when he spoke with Joe Rogan about the catalyst for his decision to lose weight. “It was around my 39th birthday,” he said, admitting that he “felt like he was dying” from being overweight.
“I felt like I had already cheated the game,” he added. “I’d had several heart problems and I was like, ‘Man, I should really start trying to figure this out.'”
The “Wild One” singer then took action, making healthy changes to his diet and incorporating running into his routine. “I’m going to think about what I do and be intentional,” he told Rogan.

Elsewhere during his chat with Men’s Health, DeFord shared that he and Xo are noticing other benefits from his dramatic weight loss.
“I was so fat that there came a point in life where my wife and I had to put two queen beds next to each other because we couldn’t fit in a king bed anymore. I was just done,” he said, admitting he was shocked to have reached such a low point in his life.
He explained that his weight had a negative impact on all areas of his life, calling it “as disgusting” as you would think. “I had difficulty wiping my [butt]. You know what I mean? I’m ashamed of it,” he added.

DeFord has never been shy about discussing his struggles with his weight. In a 2018 Instagram post, the singer recalled learning he weighed over 500 pounds, calling it “one of the most embarrassing moments” of his life.
In his post, the country singer expressed his desire to live a full life. “I want to go skydiving, bungee jumping, ride a bull, go parasailing, ride a roller coaster, I want to LIVE a normal life and have a normal relationship with food,” he wrote.

DeFord’s cover for Men’s Health attracted attention, as the singer is seen standing in a long-sleeved white t-shirt, black pants and gold chains. “I’m on the cover of Men’s f-cking health,” he said in the interview, which clearly motivated some of his fans to take charge of their lives, just like the “Beautifully Broken” artist.
“Seeing Jelly Roll do this inspired me,” someone wrote. “I started 2025 at 375 pounds, and this morning I weighed in at 279.”
“He looks awesome!” a second user wrote, while a third added: “So proud of you bro. It’s a tough journey.”
“Good for him. All for positive changes and decisions! The smile doesn’t reside here,” wrote another user.
“Jelly shows everyone that nothing is impossible!! Let’s do it!” someone else commented.
