Eberechi Eze mural appears outside Emirates Stadium ahead of Arsenal move

Arsenal fans are clearly eager for Eberechi Eze to join their ranks.

Just hours after announcing his impending £60million move from Crystal Palace to north London, a huge mural of the England international has appeared near the Emirates Stadium.

Eze, who helped Palace win the FA Cup last season, had been linked with Tottenham for months, with a verbal agreement apparently in place. But in the final twist of the transfer, Arsenal swooped in at the last minute to steal the 27-year-old from under the noses of their rivals.

The mural, created by famous street artist Northbanksy, shows Eze in an Arsenal jersey celebrating his iconic goal – crossing his fingers in front of him.

Northbanksy, a lifelong Arsenal supporter, shared the work on social media, proudly displaying it in his so-called Arsenal street art gallery known as ‘The Tunnel’.

“Eberechi Eze from Arsenal Football Club,” he wrote on X alongside various shots of the mural, including a selfie in which he imitates Eze’s pose.

While many Arsenal fans were quick to praise Northbanksy for his work and share their excitement over Eze’s impending move to the club, some pointed out that Eze’s transfer did not happen. In fact has not yet been confirmed by the Gunners or Palace.

“Great job but I hope this doesn’t come back to haunt us,” one supporter commented. “We’re making a fool of Spurs fans after the deal fell through. We’ll be a laughing stock if it doesn’t happen now.”

Northbanksy, however, wasn’t bothered by the potential backlash, offering a classic artist’s response: “That’s the risk I take.” »

Only time will tell whether the mural will be a masterstroke or whether it will be seen as one of the boldest and most premature statements in North London football history.
