Villa Aston are currently preparing a contract offer to sign a “Reveal”, which is available this month at a great price.
Villa are still only six points behind Premier League Arsenal, leaders, after their 3-1 victory against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but despite their team’s great form, Unai Emery has hinted that there could be new additions to the team, if the right deal is on the table.
Emery said: “We are vigilant. We signed Alysson and we are trying to understand how we can improve our team, but of course intelligently, and also, with the financial rules.
“But we are a team and my mentality is: always be vigilant in case we can improve something in the team, to do so. We have to be ready for the different options we may have in the transfer window.”
Signing a new striker appears to be of particular interest, with the likes of Manchester City. Omar Marmoush and that of Borussia Dortmund Julien Brandt recently been designated as potential targets.
However, according to a report from Caught Offside, Aston Villa are also keen to strengthen at the other end of the pitch and are preparing a long-term contract for Oscar Mingueza of Celta Vigowith whom they seek to sign an agreement until 2030.
Mingueza will be available for a bargain fee of just €8-10m (£7-9m) this month, with the Spanish club prepared to sanction a low-cost departure given his contract expires at the end of the season.
There is no shortage of interest from the Premier League, with West Ham United and Newcastle United also cited as potential suitors, and the defender’s versatility is very appealing, as he is capable of playing at right-back, centre-back and in a back three.
Matty Cash has been a reliable option for Emery this season, with the right-back impressing from an attacking perspective, amassing three goals and two assists in 19 Premier League appearances, and most recently setting up John McGinn’s debut goal against Forest.
The Celta Vigo defender is also capable of making an impact going forward, with four goals and six assists in La Liga last season, during which time he was hailed as a “revelation” by the journalist. Zach Lowy.
The former Barcelona man has also demonstrated his defensive qualities in recent times, making a number of important contributions as his side triumphed 4-1 over Valencia last time out.

With an average match rating of 7.05, Mingueza is Celta Vigo’s third best performing player in La Liga this season, and he could be a smart addition for Villa for just around £9 million, given their well-documented FFP issues.
