Gervonta Davis is known for his enormous power, but he revealed the biggest puncher he has faced.
Davis’ future is currently up in the airhaving not competed since being subjected to a controversial majority decision over Lamont Roach in March.
He then looked set for an exhibition fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in November, but that event was canceled after “Tank” was named in a civil lawsuit regarding domestic allegations.
Before his difficult 2025, Davis was widely considered one of the sport’s biggest punchers, pound for pound, with 28 of his 30 victories coming by knockout.
However, when it comes to naming who hit him the hardest, one name stood out for Davis, as he revealed during a previous media scrum that he was giving that recognition to Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero.
“I’m not going to lie, Rolly hit hard. People sleep on Rolly. He doesn’t have a chin, so Rolly gets caught, but he can hit… That’s the only person I felt. When he swung, it was like he had bricks in his hands.”
“Tank” met Romero in May 2022, earning a sixth-round TKO victory. Since then, Romero has won the WBA super lightweight title, then scored the biggest victory of his career by defeating Ryan Garcia in May.
The victory over Garcia saw Romero capture the WBA Regular welterweight title, and he has since been promoted to full champion.
A fight between Romero and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao had been announced for 2026, but it appears that “Rolly” will then have to defend his belt against mandatory challenger Shakhram Giyasov, or risk being stripped.
