A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.7, struck Japan on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake occurred at 10:18 a.m. Japan time, about 18 kilometers south of Matsue, Japan, according to agency data.
USGS data previously indicated the magnitude was 5.8.
As seismologists review the available data, they may revise the reported magnitude of the earthquake. Additional information collected about the earthquake could also prompt USGS scientists to update the shaking severity map.
