Misa Hylton reportedly spoke out and shared a statement after a judge dismissed his $5 million lawsuit against Mary J. Blige.
According to TMZOn Tuesday, January 6, New York Judge Phaedra F. Perry-Bond granted Mary J. Blige and her attorneys, Lisa Moore and Andrew Pequignot, a motion to dismiss Misa Hylton’s lawsuit. This, it seems, without prejudice. By Illinois Legal Aidthis means the lawsuit can be refiled by Hylton, provided it is within the statute of limitations.
TMZ says, however, that it seems unlikely that Hylton will sue again, as she has recently appeared inactive in the matter. This, reportedly, after Blige called the suit “frivolous.”
“The court is in no way permitting parties filing lawsuits seeking millions in damages based on inflammatory accusations, but for those same parties to drop their allegations when faced with a motion to dismiss and sanctions. Plaintiffs and their attorneys should view this as a warning to refrain from engaging in similar conduct in the future. This written warning may serve as important evidence in a future request for sanctions if plaintiffs and/or their “lawyers continue to engage in similar bad faith litigation tactics,” the judge reportedly said, alongside a warning for Hylton.
Social media users shared their thoughts on the dismissal of Misa Hylton’s lawsuit against Mary J. Blige in TSR comments section. This, while weighing on their apparently tarnished friendship.

“Over the years, there have been people very close to me who hurt me deeply, and I chose not to pursue them even when I could have, and perhaps should have. This reflection made me wonder why I would choose a different path for someone I once called my sister. Through this experience, I learned that mixing family, friendship, and business is not always wise, and that even in painful times, there are meaningful lessons to pull. Even though I don’t agree with everything that has been done, I have chosen peace. This whole ordeal has taken a significant toll on my mental health and has caused me to think deeply about life, memories, relationships, and their true purpose and meaning. I pray for healing for all of us.
As The shadow room previously reported, in April 2025, AllHipHop released an exclusive report claiming that Hylton accused Blige and her management company, Beautiful Life Productions, of “sabotageing” his relationship with rapper Vado. Specifically, Hylton alleged that Blige was preventing the release of Vado’s album in order to pressure him into cutting ties with Hylton and his management company, MISA Management.
Additionally, the suit alleged that Vado signed with Hylton’s company months before signing with Blige’s. Additionally, he claimed that Vado had completed an album in July 2024. But he was shelved by Blige “as long as he stayed with MISA.” Ultimately, the suit sought $5 million in damages for “breach of contract, emotional distress and interference with business relations.”
In the days that followed, Hylton continued to spark reactions with a cryptic social media post, according to The shadow room.
This, as his lawyer, Nicholas Ramcharitar, shared a statement with AllHipHop.
“…These women were closer than their biological sisters. Misa did everything she could to keep this private: calls, texts and even letters to Mary’s legal team. But after months of silence and failure to comply, we had no choice but to take legal action. This lawsuit was not plan A, it was plan Z,” Ramcharitar said. “If we don’t hear from Mary’s camp, we will move forward with the request for legal intervention… But again, we prefer to avoid that. We always say: let’s sit down, break bread, talk like a family…”
In July, Blige reportedly requested that the suit be dropped. Additionally, she alleged that Vado personally wanted to end his deal with Hylton, but partnered with her for an apparent shakedown and payout.
