England’s Harry Brook has apologized for “embarrassing me and the team” after an altercation with a nightclub bouncer in New Zealand last fall.
A report in The telegraph said Brook, England’s white-ball captain, was hit by the bouncer the night before the third ODI in Wellington on November 1 after being refused entry to the club.
The 26-year-old was given a final warning and fined around £30,000.
Brook became England’s white-ball captain when Jos Buttler left the post after the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Brook said in his statement: “I would like to apologize for my actions. I fully accept that my behavior was wrong and caused embarrassment to both myself and the England team.
“Representing England is the greatest honor of all, which I take seriously and I am deeply sorry for letting my team-mates, coaches and supporters down.
“I reflected on the lessons this taught me about responsibility, professionalism and the standards expected of those who represent your country.
“I am determined to learn from this mistake and rebuild trust through my future actions, both on and off the field. I apologize unreservedly and will work hard to ensure this does not happen again.”

A statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board said: “We are aware of this incident and it has been dealt with through formal and confidential ECB disciplinary proceedings.
“The player involved has apologized and acknowledged that his behavior did not meet expectations on this occasion.”
England were swept aside 3-0 in the ODI series in New Zealand, with Brook scoring six in the match the day after the bouncer clash.
That same evening, Brook and Jacob Bethell were filmed drinking, with the clip later shared on social media.

Shortly after Key spoke to the media, an unverified video emerged of opening hitter Ben Duckett apparently drunk late at night.
Key had said earlier in the day: “Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol for an international cricket team is not something I would expect to see at any time. From everything I have heard so far, they have actually behaved quite well. Very well behaved.”
