Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher took aim at Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s tactics in a comment on X, formerly Twitter.

The Gunners were not at their best on Thursday night as they drew 0-0 at home to Liverpool, failing to seize the opportunity to open up an eight-point lead over Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Carragher criticized Arteta’s approach to the game then, responding to a post from popular Arsenal account Tim Stillman saying that the north Londoners have played very cautiously in both games against Liverpool this season…

Carragher accused Arsenal of not taking any “risks” in 180 minutes against Liverpool this season, also referring to their 1-0 defeat to Arne Slot’s side in August.

Is Mikel Arteta being too cautious in Arsenal’s big games?

Arteta has faced criticism like this beforeArsenal also seemed a little conservative in their approach to the Manchester City match at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season.

AFC drew 1-1, and you have to wonder if they will eventually look back and regret not putting more effort into the games against City and Liverpool.

That said, Arteta’s side also recently beat Aston Villa 4-1 at the Emirates as they arrived there as serious title contenders after an 11 match winning streak.

It will be interesting to see how Arsenal approach their other big games later in the season, as they still have to face City and Tottenham away, as well as Chelsea and Manchester United at home.

Carragher, meanwhile, will be happy to see Liverpool’s recent improvement as they are now unbeaten in nine matches, although there have been plenty of draws and they remain well out of the title race.

LFC also didn’t register a single shot on target against Arsenal, which is the first time that’s happened to them in a Premier League game in 16 years, suggesting they may not have taken many risks in this game either…
