“Star Wars” is at its best when it simply explores the consequences of its surroundings, paints a picture of the strange little corners of the franchise world, and tells stories that challenge what the “Star Wars” can be. It made one two strokes “Skeleton Crew” (lovely space by pirate adventure) falls just before “Andor” (One of the most burning TV shows in the decade) so effective.
This is something “Star Wars: Visions” doing very well, telling non-canine stories that take the “Star Wars” images and tropics to the extreme. Shorts such as “duel” or “enthusiasts the stars”, Imagine completely again which franchise may be when “Visions” as a whole tends to prioritize stories that speak the history of real world.
Part 3, “Star Wars: Visions” returns to their roots by tapping Japanese anime studios to tell different stories. One of those shorts – Shinya Ohira and David Production’s “Black” – even made their world premiere Annecy International Animation Film Festival’s 2025 edition. The result is a fascinating story that we have never seen about “Star Wars” assets -Stormtrooper, which suffers from PTSD, too much Star wars.
Short play like an improvised jazz session. It follows an unknown Imperial group that seems to be a death star when his past and current lightning in front of his eyes, while destruction and explosions come around him. As a result, we get flashes of several battles in the selection of worlds, space dog battles, land attacks, and other when Stormtrooper is considering a psychological record that all this battle has taken to him.
Ilira has a psychedelic approach to the story, formatting a freely flowing story that is heavy for images and light for a real plot. In fact, it is difficult to know exactly what is happening or what happens now compared to the past (much less if something we see is really real). But none of them matters. What is important is the unspoken horror that our bearded troops know, he has experienced trauma and his insane dedication to the merciless, genocide system. It’s not a story we’ve seen before, but However, it is with “Andor” themes. Its purpose is to humanize people who are attached to the conflict between the empire and the rebellion without knowing the need to sympathize with their cause or role.
“Black” is also simply a stunning visual storytelling. David Production offers a beautifully animated short short colors, fluid movement, and striking images designed as a screen and changing prints to hang on your wall. It also helps to modify a short rhythm of the jazz-inspired soundtrack. (It’s like “cowboy bebop”, but with Stormtroopers.) Although on a roll of refunds, you are not sure what you just looked at, it’s hard to forget about its effect.
Part of what makes the “visions” one of the best “Star Wars” programs is its ability to exit the canon while still using franchising icography. It is that the “Star Wars” announcements and sound that can be too recognizable (whether it is about designing a light set or x -wing), but it also manages to play with the continuity of the property while respecting the institution that the “star war” has come over time. This makes the “visions” shorts to feel liberating, fresh and new, while they are still unequivocally “star war.”
The story of Stormtrooper, which deals with PTSD, when the Death Star is exploding, it would be difficult to deal with either live or spin-off. After all, how much do you really want the audience’s compassion for space nazi? With the exception of the animation, especially in such liquid, narrative -flowing animation, you can get rid of by telling such an emotional story without being too tangled in politics. For every “Andor”, there may be a “skeleton crew”, so it is only sensible that every “star war rebel” may have “visions”. It has given the “Star Wars” to last almost 50 years.
The 1 and 2 of the “Star Wars” season 1 and 2 are now streamed with Disney+, and season 3 will be premiered on October 29, 2025.
