Agit Kabayel closed out his comeback with authority on Saturday night, stopping Damian Knyba in the third round to retain his WBC interim heavyweight title at the Rudolf Weber Arena in Oberhausen, Germany.
This was Kabayel’s first fight in Germany since 2023, after a long series of fights held abroad. A crowd of around 13,000 supported him from the opening bell, and Kabayel responded with a performance that left no doubt about the gap in preparation between the two heavyweights.

Knyba entered undefeated and physically imposing, several inches taller and possessing a long-range advantage. He showed ambition from the start, holding his ground in the first round and landing clean shots that forced Kabayel to remain vigilant. The champion absorbed the work without panic, keeping his feet planted and his pace measured.
This balance began to tip in the second round. Kabayel came in more consistently and started going for the body. The blows were not rushed, but they piled up. Knyba’s movement slows down. His jab lost its punch. Exchanges have become shorter and less controlled.
In the third round, Kabayel dictated every phase of the fight. He backed Knyba up, pinned him near the ropes and unloaded with sustained pressure. A series of unanswered shots prompted the referee to intervene, effectively ending the match.
The stoppage sparked mixed reactions in the arena, with some wondering if it had come too soon. Despite this, Knyba was no longer defending effectively and the direction of the fight was clear.
With this victory, Agit Kabayel improved his record to 27-0 with 19 knockouts, extending his current streak of stoppage victories. Damian Knyba suffered the first defeat of his career.
