Indian national cricket team’s modern-day big hitter Virat Kohli is all set to return to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for the first time since the stampede incident that took place outside the venue after RCB’s maiden IPL triumph.
Virat Kohli is expected to play Delhi’s matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, but the entry of fans is expected to be banned by the Karnataka government.

However, Bengaluru fans would be disappointed with the latest report from ESPNCricinfo, which suggests that the Karnataka government will soon issue a strict order to the KSCA to hold matches behind closed doors at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Earlier, KSCA had hinted at the possibility of opening two stands for the general public, which could accommodate between 2,000 and 3,000 spectators if full. However, the Karnataka government cited “potential security and compliance issues” and denied granting the permission.
“ESPNcricinfo understands that the state government is keen to avoid chaos around the venue during the festive period, given the stature of the participating players,” the report said.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant will also play for Delhi alongside Virat Kohli, and the duo arrived in the city late on Monday evening. They are likely to train with the Delhi team on Tuesday.

Speaking on the Beard Before Wicket podcast, former Indian batter and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) mentor Dinesh Karthik said that Kohli is a fierce competitor, but at the same time, he is a fun-loving guy. He said:
“He’s a fierce competitor but a fun-loving guy outside of that. He’s just a normal human being like any of us. It’s just that he’s an extraordinary world champion hitter. That’s a side of him.
“The other side of him is a normal human being who comes from Delhi and makes these jokes like any Delhiite would do. A great family man, and I have immense respect for him, and I’ve always had a very good, healthy, respectful relationship with him throughout.”

Dinesh Karthik further lavished rich praise on Kohli, saying he was the man for the big moments. He clarified:
“Yes, I’m a little older than him. But it’s not the age difference that has earned me the respect that we have in the relationship. It’s just the way we treated each other for a while and we’ve seen ups and downs as well. And I think what I see in him is the boy I see when I first met him and I’ve loved his development in the sport.
“I think he’s a man made for big moments because he wants it more than anyone. There are people who, when the big moment comes, they think: ‘Oh, what do I do?’ And before the match starts, he wants that moment to be his.
