Amy Rob And TJ Holmes say friendship and humor are the foundation of their relationship, sharing in a new interview that laughing together keeps them strong.
The engaged former GMA co-hosts, who went public in 2022 and announced their engagement on their podcast, are now planning a destination wedding in 2026.
Amy Robach and TJ Holmes are hoping for a small, intimate ceremony with 50 to 100 guests and are considering venues like Paris, Tulum or Turks and Caicos.

During an interview with People Magazine During iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball 2025 on Dec. 12, Amy Robach and TJ Holmes opened up about what keeps their relationship strong.
The former “Good Morning America” co-anchors, who got engaged in September and confirmed the news publicly a few weeks later, agreed that friendship was at the heart of their bond.
“Friendship, the foundation of friendship, period, point blank,” Holmes, 48, explained, as Robach, 52, quickly acknowledged, adding, “Without a doubt.”
Holmes continued: “If you have a friend that you love and respect…you find yourself in a relationship that remains the foundation of friendship.”
Robach expanded on the idea, noting that humor plays a major role.

“If you can laugh with someone, you can live a long life with someone. You can get through almost anything if you can laugh together,” she said. Holmes playfully interjected to echo that sentiment with a laugh of his own.

The evening also turned into a family affair, with the couple posing on the red carpet alongside their children.
Holmes attended with his daughter, Sabine, 12, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Marilee Fiebig, while Robach was joined by his daughters, Annalize, 19, and Ava, 22, from his previous marriage to Andrew Shue.
In anticipation of the holiday, Holmes shared that the couple planned to spend Christmas in New York with their daughters before heading out for a warm-weather getaway.
“We’re going to have our perfect Christmas this year,” he said. Robach added with a smile, “It’s TJ and his ladies.”

Robach and Holmes first sparked dating rumors in November 2022, a relationship that quickly made headlines due to the fact that they were both married at the time: Robach to actor Andrew Shue and Holmes to attorney Marilee Fiebig.
However, a source previously said People that there was no overlap between their love story and their respective marriages.
After their divorces and public confirmation of their relationship, the former “GMA3” co-anchors continued to hit major milestones together, including moving in together and building a life together.
They are now preparing for their next chapter: marriage. Earlier this fall, the couple revealed their engagement during an episode of their podcast, “Amy & TJ.”
The episode, titled “Robach-Holmes”, was a nod to their future shared last name.

“We share with all of you that we are committed and we have been committed for just over a month now,” Robach told listeners.
Holmes then added that they wanted to share the news directly with their audience first, emphasizing that they have learned from their past experiences to control how their relationship milestones are announced.

While Holmes and Robach seem aligned on most things, the lovebirds admit they don’t see eye-to-eye on every wedding detail, especially when it comes to the guest list.
During a recent “Ask Amy & TJ” segment with Yahoo Newsthe couple debated whether guests should be allowed to bring people they haven’t met.
Holmes didn’t mince his words, saying he saw no reason to include anyone he needed to be introduced to on his wedding day.
Robach questioned whether that meant banning plus-ones altogether, but Holmes stood firm. “Why should I invite someone to express their feelings on my wedding day?” he asked.

Robach, however, sees things differently, saying she thinks close friends should be allowed to bring partners even if the couple hasn’t met them yet, so they can fully enjoy the celebration.
Holmes argued that unfamiliar people could quickly inflate the guest list, prompting Robach to laugh off the worry, suggesting that flexibility is important when dealing with loved ones.

Ahead of the big day, a source said Us every week that the couple is already figuring out what they want their wedding to look like as they plan to tie the knot in 2026.
According to a source close to the couple, the two are leaning toward a destination wedding “because they don’t want a media frenzy.”
The source told the outlet that Robach and Holmes were hoping for a cozy party, and “they want it to be small and intimate and only want 50 to 100 guests at most.”
Several locations are said to be on their radar, including Turks and Caicos, Paris and Tulum. Although June 2026 has been mentioned as a possible deadline, the source notes that no final decision has yet been made.

Beyond choosing the venue, Robach also thought about the more personal details of the day.
The insider said she was considering a “simple and elegant” wedding dress, avoiding anything too extravagant. She also hopes to include their children in the ceremony, with her children walking her down the aisle and Holmes’ children doing the same for him.
