Wendy and Eddie Osefo accused of running an identity fraud scheme involving 40 credit cards – they used various aliases!
Prosecutors say The Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie used aliases and managed more than 40 credit and debit cards as their fraud case continued to escalate.

The defense lawyers of Osefos argued that Carroll County prosecutors embarked on a “fishing expedition” seeking additional banking records. The couple was indicted last month for staging a burglary at their home to falsely claim insurance losses, and their legal team is asking the court to quash the subpoenas.
Prosecutors fired back in recently filed documents, alleging that Wendy And Eddie possess “approximately 40 credit and/or debit cards, some of which are believed to be in the name of companies”, and that the two men used the pseudonyms “Pam Olivier” And “Eddie Hennessy” in what they claim is a “deliberate attempt to mask their identity.”

They also accused Wendy to falsely deny that she used PayPal, Venmo, Or Cash app pay for jewelry.
“The State expects to see purchases as well as returns on financial records,” prosecutors wrote. “Furthermore, the State expects that these documents will demonstrate a pattern of excessive spending, which supports the motive in this case. The State asserts that insurance fraud is a financial crime and, as such, the amount of debt owed by the State Osefosjointly, individually and through the businesses they own, is very relevant to their motivation. Eddie Osefo lawyer, Joseph Murthapushed back, calling the requests too broad and questioning their timing.

He said prosecutors were “looking for something they didn’t understand after 18 months of investigation,” adding that police never contacted the couple “from the time of the break-in until they were criminally charged.”
Circuit Court Judge Brian DeLeonardo will consider the subpoena dispute at a status hearing scheduled for Dec. 2. Investigators had access to several Gmail accounts linked to Wendy And Eddie — plus a third Gmail address that does not match any of their names – using a search and seizure warrant served on Google. They also extracted data from Wendy’s Instagram accounts @thedrwendyshow And @of Joseph after noticing she was wearing a ring she had previously reported stolen.

Additional warrants targeted her Apple ID, A Text now number and home security accounts with Protective ring And ADT. Prosecutors additionally collected bank statements from Allied Bank, American Express, And Capital oneas well as information from luxury retailers like Van Cleef, Louis Vuitton, Saks, And Ascot Diamonds.
THE Osefos were charged by a Carroll County grand jury for seven counts of insurance fraud, eight counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and one count of making a false statement to a police officer. The charges stem from an alleged burglary at their home on April 7, 2024. At the time, the couple told deputies that thieves ransacked their bedroom and closets while vacationing in Jamaica, stealing approximately $450,000 worth of designer handbags and jewelry.

The authorities expressed doubts very early on. Court records indicate investigators determined several of the items reported stolen had actually been returned to stores for refunds before the alleged break-in. Prosecutors also wrote that the investigation “revealed Osefos be burdened by significant debt.
The couple was released on $50,000 bail each. Although the alleged burglary was not a major storyline in the currently airing Season 10 of Rope, Wendy said in a recent episode that she and Eddie spent approximately $100,000 on renovations to their home.

HAS BravoCon last weekend, Wendy briefly addressed the situation while speaking on stage. “It’s an unfortunate situation, and right now I can’t say too much, but I will say that when the time is right, I will share my story with everyone,” she told her fans. “And right now, these are just allegations, so we’re going to keep moving forward.”
She finished by thanking viewers for their support.
