Deontay Wilder names the one man he ‘must’ face before he retires

Deontay Wilder always has her sights set on a particular man before hanging up her gloves.

Wilder was once the long-time WBC world heavyweight champion, making 10 defenses of the belt over a five-year span, including knockout victories over Luis Ortiz and Bermane Stiverne.

He lost his belt during an epic trilogy with Tyson Fury, and “The Bronze Bomber” struggled from that point on, suffering further losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang before rebounding with a victory over Tyrrell Herndon in June.

Recently, Wilder has been linked to a shock fight with heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk after the unified champion called out the 40-year-old for a fight, but there’s yet another big name the American has his eyes on.

Speaking to Boxing Scene, Wilder has revealed he still wants to face Anthony Joshua before retiring from the sport.

“Almost certainly [I’ll fight Joshua]. Hands down. I am a fighter. He’s a fighter. I am still active. He is still active. And it’s one of the biggest fights that people still want to see. You know what I mean?

“It’s a great fight that people still want to see. And like I said, we’re both still in this business. And so while we’re still in this business, we need to meet.”

Joshua and Wilder have been rumored to be fighting each other for almost a decade, since they were both reigning world heavyweight champions.

The Briton recently scored a sixth-round stoppage victory over YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in their controversial fight.and it looks like AJ could now be on a collision course for a domestic showdown with Wilder’s former foe Fury, but a potential clash between Joshua and “The Bronze Bomber” could still be one that fight fans are eager to see.
