‘Greatest Human Ever’ – Former WWE Star Compares John Cena’s Retirement to Three Hall of Famers

John Cena’s in-ring career ended during the WWE Saturday Night Main Event, and The Franchise Player vowed to never return as a performer. Meanwhile, Hornswoggle compared Cena’s retirement to that of three Hall of Famers and discussed its impact.

John Cena‘s retirement was announced more than a year in advance, but reality set in when the star leader left his gear and merchandise in the middle of the ring after his match with Gunther in Washington. Additionally, Cena’s retirement had a profound impact across the world due to his immense contribution.

Speaking on Velvet Ropes from WrestlingNewsCoWWE legend Hornswoggle discussed the impact of John Cena’s retirement from in-ring competition and compared it to the retirements of Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair, as these legends returned and did not have the same impact as John Cena’s final match in the industry.

“[Steve] Austin having finished didn’t hit as hard. [Ric] The flair being done didn’t hit as hard. Shawn Michaels finished and didn’t hit [as hard]and I think it’s part of the wrestling culture… I can’t understand why this one [John Cena] “It’s a huge blow to the wrestling community, and I think it’s really because John Cena is the greatest human of all time,” Swoggle said.

A major WWE name also spoke about the impact of John Cena’s retirement.

John Cena has touched several lives outside of the Stamford-based promotion through Make-a-Wish and participated in several iconic industry moments as a full-time in-ring performer. While the 17-time WWE World Champion is done with professional wrestling, Seth Rollins thinks the company’s future looks bleak without him.

“You know, John is the type of guy who says, ‘I wanted to go to all these places I’ve been for over 20 years and give the fans one more opportunity to interact with me and see me play.’ And so I don’t know if we’ll ever have that again. And it was a very special year. It will be very sad to see what WWE looks like without John Cena in the near future,” Rollins said. [H/T – Fox News]
