James Cameron will tell us the future of ‘Avatar,’ whatever happens

Whether or not fans return to Pandora on the big screen, James Cameron assures us we’ll find out how the Avatar the story ends. The third film in his saga, Avatar: Fire and Ash, is currently in theaters, and if the fourth and fifth films in the saga are dated 2029 and 2031Cameron played coy about whether he’s actually going to do them or not.

But films have storylines. Scripts that the actors have read, loved, and even filmed parts of. However, if for some reason they don’t get made, Cameron swears he will. let everyone know what was going to happen to them. “This is what it is,” said the director Weekly Entertainment. “If we can’t do 4 and 5, for whatever reason, I’ll hold a press conference and tell you what we were going to do. How’s that going?”

It sounds like a joke, but Cameron isn’t usually one to mess around. Disney, on the other hand, would probably have something to say about Cameron giving away valuable intellectual property for free. It’s not The Midnight Club. Previously, Cameron had considered telling future stories in book form if the films didn’t work out, which would allow all the rich details to be included. But today, he says, “there is no economic model for [books] anymore,” he said. “People don’t read anymore.”

But ultimately, we don’t think this will be a problem. Avatar: Fire and Ash East it’s going incredibly well at the box office, having grossed an estimated $153 million domestically and $544 million worldwide in just over a week. It’s slightly underperforming compared to the previous film, Avatar: The Way of Water, but should still easily exceed $1 billion, which would virtually guarantee the making of the fourth and fifth films.

Plus, as we said, these films have already been written. The hardest part – determining which story to tell – has already been done. It is simply the fact that Disney agrees to spend almost a billion dollars on the making and marketing of the two films, which forces Cameron to set aside several other projectsand get him to commit.

We’ll probably know early next year whether or not Cameron and Disney will move forward with Avatar 4 And 5. And now at least we know that if that doesn’t happen, Cameron will end up giving everyone the goods. Maybe a press conference. Maybe a book. Maybe a deep dive in the ocean. It’s James Cameron, after all. Everything is possible
