A family in California brought back a long-standing Christmas tradition that went viral on social media.
Daniel Miller and his cousins surprised their grandparents with a pre-Christmas sleepover, a annual tradition they call Grandparents’ Christmas.
The video posted on social networks on December 21, which has now attracted 14 million views, created a surprise.
WE CAN STILL HAVE A CHRISTMAS DICKENS AS WE GET OLD
The video begins by showing Miller and his wife entering his grandparents’ house, stating, “I’m here to spend the night.”
Her grandmother responds, in an apparently surprised tone: “It’s okay. You can spend the night if you want.”

THE viral video features their family making pizza, doing arts and crafts, and sharing memories together.
“Thank you all for coming,” Miller’s grandfather, Carroll Blackstock, said in the video. “I can tell you this room has never felt this kind of love, and we appreciate it. Thank you so much.”
Miller told Fox News Digital that credit for the surprise goes to his wife, who recently lost his grandparents.
“She kind of brought up the idea of continuing this old family tradition that we had that never happened. … I thought, ‘All right, I’ll go out there and do it,’ and that’s what we did,” Miller said.

Miller was the first to enter and said he began texting for others to join him inside. As the rest of Miller’s cousins and family members began to arrive, his grandmother asked him, “Are we having Grandparents’ Christmas?”
“It clicked pretty quickly for her,” Miller said.
This 25-year-old tradition was started by Miller’s grandmother, Toni Blackstock.
“She would host events at her house every year, leading up to Christmas,” Miller told Fox News Digital.

He said make pizza was always a staple of the event, an ode to her grandmother’s Italian heritage.
Miller said his grandparents were “always there,” which taught him that “the greatest gift you can give someone is your time.”
“[Our grandparents] certainly [gave their time] to all their children and grandchildren,” Miller said, recounting their constant presence at birthday parties and sporting events. “I think it taught us that time is very precious and [we] should always get together as a family. And you should always want to make time for those you love.”
