Jake Paul targets former Anthony Joshua opponent for comeback fight

Jake Paul is already thinking about how he could bounce back from his loss to Anthony Joshua.

The 28-year-old American superstar won in the biggest way against the two-time world heavyweight champion from England.managing to survive for six rounds in their main event fight before receiving a brutal knockout.

Both men took the fight on late notice after an exhibition between Paul and Gervonta Davis was stopped. Joshua ultimately won the big-money fight, but Francis Ngannou – who “AJ” knocked out in two rounds – and Terence Crawford were also approached.

Speaking on ImpulsivePaul revealed that Ngannou is still on his list of targets.

“I told everyone I’d do better than Francis and Francis doesn’t have a chin. He’s quiet and gentle… I’m going to fight Francis. It’s a good idea actually. I think maybe now he’ll accept it.”

Ngannou has only competed once in MMA since losing to Joshua in March 2024, and turned down the opportunity to face Paul after calling the offer “insulting”, not because of the money, but the fact that he was being brought in as a replacement for the diminutive “Tank” Davis.

‘AJ’ of course had no problem signing on the dotted line, which has now left Paul in this situation. Although he continues to talk about his return in 2026, many in the sport believe the broken jaw and subsequent surgery could force him to retire from fighting.
