Crystal Palace are looking to sign Raheem Sterling, out of Chelsea, in the upcoming transfer window.

Raheem Sterling, who is surplus to requirements at Chelsea and has not played a single minute of first-team football, is expected to be on the move in the upcoming transfer window.

According to a report from FlashScoreCrystal Palace are keen to acquire his services as they look to strengthen their attack mid-season. The Eagles prefer to sign younger players, but they could view Sterling as a short-term solution.

Raheem Sterling failed at Chelsea

After making his name at Manchester City, Sterling joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth £50 million. While he has 19 goals and 15 assists in his 81 outings for the London club, the move didn’t really go as planned.

The 31-year-old spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Arsenal as he was not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans. While he returned to his parent club this summer, nothing has changed. The Italian manager made it clear that the pound sterling was surplus to requirements.

He hasn’t played a single minute this season and has spent the majority of his time training alone. Despite his situation, Sterling is unwilling to part ways with Chelsea unless conditions are favourable.

He earns nearly €344,000 per week and wants stability for his family before choosing his next club. More importantly, he prefers to stay in London, and Crystal Palace could end up offering him that opportunity.

Even if the Eagles can’t afford to match that salary, they can offer him a starring role and the chance to continue in London. However, it will be interesting to see if this is enough to convince Sterling.

The England international is only 31 and he certainly has plenty of football left in him. A move to the Eagles could certainly help, but it will depend on the finances involved.
