Floyd Mayweather Jr. has revealed who he believes was the best of the legendary ‘Four Kings’ who took the sport of boxing by storm in the 1980s.

Mayweather knows very well what it means to be the biggest name in sports.after being a pound-for-pound number one for most of the 2000s and 2010s, becoming a pay-per-view and box office megastar in the process.

Before Mayweather’s rise to the top, there were four other boxing icons who were rightfully considered among the best in the world, and these are the “Four Kings” which consisted of Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran and Thomas Hearns.

The quartet of fighters faced off in iconic fights, and there was often debate among boxing fans as to who was the best of the four men.

Mayweather named who he gives this honor to, telling the Fat Joe Podcast that he thinks Duran is the one who ranks above Leonard, Hearns and Duran.

“I’ll go Roberto Duran… Duran was arguably the greatest lightweight of all time and became one of the ‘Four Kings’ at welterweight and middleweight.”

Duran was a four-weight world champion, winning gold in the lightweight, welterweight, light middleweight and middleweight divisions, while also going undisputed during his tenure at 135 pounds.

His illustrious career spanned more than 30 years, beginning in 1968 and ending in 2001, with Duran’s final record of 103 victories in 119 fights. So it’s understandable why exactly Mayweather considers the Panamanian superstar to be the best.
