Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected Russia’s claim that his country led an attack on a residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed Monday that the attack took place on Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region of northwest Russia using 91 long-range attack drones.

Lavrov said air defense systems shot down the air attack and added that no one was injured.
Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said the strike took place on Sunday, “virtually immediately after” talks in Florida between US President Donald Trump and Zelensky on negotiations to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Zelensky quickly rejected Moscow’s claims and accused Russia of trying to derail peace talks.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha also condemned Moscow’s allegations, saying they were aimed at undermining the negotiations.

Russia said it would reassess its negotiating position in light of the alleged attack, with Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warning that Moscow’s response “would not be diplomatic.”
Later Monday, Trump said Putin told him in a phone call that Ukraine had tried to attack the Russian president’s residence.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said Putin raised the allegation during their call.
“I don’t like it. It’s not good,” Trump said when asked if the assertion could affect his efforts to end the war in Ukraine. “I found out about it today from President Putin. I was very angry about it.”
When asked if there was any evidence to support the claim, Trump replied, “We’ll find out.”
Peace talks under pressure

Zelensky said last week that a 20-point peace plan had been “90 percent accepted” and that security guarantees between the United States and Ukraine were “100 percent accepted.”
But major sticking points remain over the future of Russian-occupied territory in eastern Ukraine.
Zelensky reiterated that the issue should be decided by the Ukrainian people, suggesting that different aspects of any agreement could be put to a referendum.
Both Trump and Zelensky expressed optimism that a peace deal could be reached after Sunday’s talks in Florida.

The fighting continues on the front lines
Meanwhile, fighting continues on several fronts in Ukraine, with the Russian military saying its forces have captured the village of Dibrova in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region.
In the southeastern Zaporizhia region, at least one civilian was killed and another injured in a Russian attack on the town of Orikhiv, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov. He said Russian guided aerial bombs hit the frontline town, killing a 46-year-old man and injuring a 49-year-old woman.
In Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, Governor Oleh Syniehubov said Russian shelling had injured three people in the past 24 hours. A 73-year-old woman was injured in the village of Hroza, a 54-year-old woman in Zolochiv and a 73-year-old man in Novoplatonivka, he said.
Russia said its forces were advancing or improving their positions in several regions, including Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk.
The Ukrainian General Staff said 89 battles had been recorded along the front line since the start of the day. Fighting continues in six sectors, with Russian forces concentrating their main efforts on the Pokrovsk sector, according to an operational update published Monday by Ukrinform.
