As federal authorities investigate reports of massive fraud Set in Minnesota daycares, video uncovered in a 2018 fraud case shows parents and providers involved in a fraud scheme dating back to 2015.
The video, taken from a 2018 local Fox report, shows parents checking their children into a daycare in Hennepin County, Minnesota, only to leave with their children minutes later.
The video was taken from a surveillance camera as part of a case pursued by Hennepin County, according to the 2018. Fox 9 report. Under the program, low-income parents signed their children up for child care so that providers could then claim reimbursement for services that were never actually provided, according to Fox 9. The outlet said that, according to surveillance video, on some days no families would show up, but day care centers would still seek reimbursements from the government.

This comes amid widespread outrage over a viral video posted by Nick Shirley Friday, showing tours of several Minnesota day care centers, including one that reportedly received millions of dollars in public funding despite appearing largely dormant.
The video sparked widespread backlash, sparking criticism of Minnesota’s Democratic governor. Tim Waltz throughout the weekend from several high-profile figures, including Vice President JD Vance, Donald Trump Jr. and Elon Musk.

The White House on Sunday republished an X-rated message from Education Secretary Linda McMahon, who called the alleged fraud a “breathtaking failure.”
At the time the video was released, Walz was already under heavy fire from the scandal surrounding his administration, which included the loss of at least $1 billion due to alleged social services fraud largely linked to Minneapolis’ Somali community.

TIMELINE OF THE “LARGEST COVID-19 FRAUD SCHEME” IN THE UNITED STATES
Director of the FBI Kash Patel said the agency sent additional investigative personnel and resources to Minnesota as part of an ongoing effort to “dismantle large-scale fraudulent schemes exploiting federal programs.”
Patel said Sunday that the office shifted resources to the state before online attention intensified recently, noting the Feeding Our Future Surveywho uncovered a $250 million scheme that siphoned off federal food aid for children during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The case has already resulted in 78 indictments and 57 convictions, with prosecutors also charging the defendants in a separate plot to bribe a juror with $120,000 in cash, Patel said, adding that the investigation was still ongoing.

“The FBI believes this is just the tip of a very large iceberg. We will continue to follow the money and protect the children, and this investigation remains ongoing,” he wrote on X. “In addition, many are also referred to immigration officials for possible denaturalization and deportation proceedings when eligible.”
