Tanzania vs Tunisia: CAN 2025 statistics

  • Tanzania has never won a CAN match (4 draws, 7 losses) and could become the fourth nation, after Mozambique (16), Benin (15) and Guinea-Bissau (12), not to win any of its first 12 matches in the final phase.
  • Only one of their last four matches of this type – against Tunisia in this edition – ended in defeat (D3).
  • They scored in their first two CAN matches for the first time since 1980.
  • In three group stage closing matches, their only defeat was a 3–0 loss to Algeria in 2019.
  • Simon Msuva’s goal against Uganda took the striker’s tally to three goals at the AFCON in three different editions, making him the first Tanzanian player to score in a hat-trick in separate AFCON tournaments.
  • Msuva’s three goals in AFCON gave Tanzania the advantage, but they failed to win any of those matches (2 draws, 1 loss).
  • The defeat against Nigeria was the first time Tunisia had lost an AFCON match after scoring at least two goals since their 3-2 quarter-final loss to Cameroon in 2008. They were unbeaten in nine matches scoring at least twice (8 wins, 1 draw).
  • They lost their second group match after winning their first match for the first time since 2013.
  • The Carthage Eagles have failed to win their last group match in the last three editions of the CAN.
  • A 4-2 victory Zimbabwe in 2017, this is their most recent victory in such a match
  • Tunisia on course to reach the knockout stages for the 15th time
  • Both of their shots on target against Nigeria were goals and their shot conversion rate of 26% is the highest of any team in the tournament.
