Trevor Noah’s Day Zero Productions and Anima Interactive announced the winners of their game Jam, Day Zero Games: Solarpunk Jam.
On nearly 200 participants from 35 countries, Solar Salvage, a vehicle and exploration construction game created by only three developers: Nattland Interactive in Sweden and 707 Heaven in Norway, received the Grand Prix of $ 10,000.
The additional finalists include: Banyu, a comfortable sailing and recovery game developed by Hotfix Labs, an Indonesia team; Sky Patch, a peaceful adventure of 3D agriculture platform and puzzle where players must revitalize the subsidiary and floating islands, developed by Null Jam Games, an international team.
Winning matches will be presented during the Green Games showcase at Summer Games Fest, broadcast on June 7 at 1 p.m. Pacific time, highlighting the next generation of creators concerned with the climate.
“You can feel the desire for honest and optimistic games in Solarpunk Jam’s submissions,” said Dan Zubrzycki, game manager at Day Zero Productions, in a statement. “Teams of Indonesia, South Africa, Norway, Colombia and Beyond have treated the theme not only as an aesthetic, but as an invitation to initiate the climate crisis with hope and ingenuity. We are delighted to be in conversation with our winners and the finalists on their placement.
Games of the day zero: Solarpunk Jam launched on Earth Day, April 22, 2025, and took place until May 10, 2025, challenging developers to create original video game prototypes inspired by Solarpunk – a growing literary and visual movement that envisages radical optimism, environmental management and social equity.
“Solarpunk is always a fairly emerging movement, and this game game has helped to advance the movement, demonstrating how video games can give life to its ideals,” said Karla Reyes, founder and creative director at Anima Interactive, in a press release. “The games offer unique fertile terrain to explore the complexities of climate justice, community resilience and more brilliant future – through the story, the systems, the aesthetics and the active participation of the players. It is incredible to see what the participants obtained in a few weeks, and we hope that this initiative can inspire more creators interested in imagery and the construction of a solarpunk world. ”
The Jam was sponsored by Cinereach, a history laboratory behind acclaimed films like Marcel the Shell with shoes and animals from South Savage and the Carmack collective, a fund that supports the catalysis of transformative change in the pursuit of climate justice.
Before the game game, the participants received a narrative plan developed by Cinereach in collaboration with good energy, providing climate and narration research tools designed with the contribution of scientists and first -line communities.
“We are so impressed by the way these brilliant game developers have interpreted the narrative plans to imagine new hopes and regenerative worlds in the face of climate change,” said Candice McFarlane, head of creation at Cinereach, in a press release. “These creators gave life to information in an exciting and inspiring way that the performance games have the power to help shape our future while being a pleasure to play. We are incredibly proud to defend these projects alongside the day Zero and Anima.”
With global participation, intercultural collaboration and powerful narration, the results of zero day games: Jam Solarpunk proves the growing appetite for stories that defy dystopia with beauty, joy and ecological imagination.

With an annual budget of subsidies of around 1.5 million dollars, the collective carmack focuses on two primary strategies: the construction of movements and the change of culture. The fund supports first -line organizations and cultural initiatives that question the domination of the fossil fuels industry, aimed at moving stories and empowering communities most affected by environmental injustices. Stressing transparency and power sharing, the collective uses philanthropy practices based on confidence, including multi -year funding and without restrictions and minimum application requirements, to ensure that resources are allocated effectively and equitably.
