Girl, 6, among group arrested for assassination of Myanmar general | Conflict News


Lin Latt Shwe, 6, was detained with his mother and other suspects in the murder of a retired general in Yangon.

The Myanmar security forces arrested a six -year -old girl, as well as 15 other people suspected of participating in the assassination of an army officer retired last month, media report by the state.

The 16 suspects – 13 men and three women – were arrested in four different regions of the country at the end of last month, the new public world public in Myanmar said on Friday.

The arrested people include Lin Latt Shwe, the alleged assassin six -year -old, Myo Ko Ko, who would have at least three other alias. The newspaper report indicates that the child and his parents were arrested in the central city of Bagan.

The other detainees include the owner of a private hospital, who has provided treatment to the assassin, who, according to the newspaper report, suffered a gunshot injury during the attack.

The independent media, The Irrawaddy, said that the Golden Valley Warriors denied that the 16 detained people were part of their operation.

The murder of Cho Tun Aung, who was a former ambassador of Cambodia, is the last attack on figures related to the power army which launched a takeover of the country in 2021 after having deposited the democratically elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi.

Since the coup d’etat and the outbreak of the civil war in Myanmar, targeted assassinations have been carried out against active and high -ranking retired military officers, as well as senior officials, local officials, commercial partners in power and alleged informants.

Shortly after having carried out the assassination, the Golden Valley Warriors declared in a press release published on Facebook that Cho Tun Aung had taught internal security and the fight against terrorism in Myanmar’s National Defense College and was, by its actions, an accomplice of the atrocities committed by the army in the current civil war.
