Stefon Diggs responds to private chef’s strangulation allegations

Steve Diggs speaks out after his former private boss accused him of strangulation. As The Shade Room previously reported, Diggs now faces criminal charges including strangulation, choking, as well as assault and battery, all related to an incident that allegedly took place on December 2.

Stefon Diggs responds to former private chef’s strangulation allegations

The NFL star shared this exclusively with reporters in the New England Patriots locker room on Friday, January 2. He started off by apologizing for being MIA the last few days. He admitted it had been a difficult time and said he could not elaborate on the matter. “It’s been a very emotional time… overwhelmed by some of the things that are happening. It’s definitely an open case, so he can’t say anything about it.

As for football, Stefon Diggs said he plans to keep working and finish the season strong. “As far as football goes, I’m going to continue to be the guy I’ve been. I’m trying to finish the season strong.” In more footage CBS News shared during his interview, Diggs added that he leaned on his family and his team during this time.

“We all deal with life issues, family issues, being a football team is tough. You band together, you lean on your brothers, you lean on your people that you spend the most time with,” Diggs continued.

News regarding the charges against Stefon Diggs dropped in late 2025. On December 16, his former personal boss filed a police report, accusing Diggs of assault and attempting to strangle him. According to TMZshe said, Diggs burst into her room on Dec. 2, became angry during a conversation and slapped her. She said the argument escalated following a text message conversation about money she claimed she owed him. When she tried to push him away, she said he grabbed her neck and tightened his grip. She said she was having trouble breathing and feared she might pass out.

She told police she did not take any photos of his alleged injuries, but that his upper chest was red. At the time of the incident, she said she had not received her monthly salary. She began working for Diggs in July, with the job planned for the 2025 NFL season. They initially agreed on a weekly salary, but later reportedly opted for a monthly salary.

Stefon’s lawyer and the New England Patriots respond to the allegations

After allegations against Stefon Diggs surfaced, his attorney David Meier emailed the Associated Presssaying the footballer “categorically denies these allegations”. Additionally, Meier called the claims unsubstantiated and uncorroborated.

“The timing and motivation of the allegations are very clear: they are the direct result of a financial dispute between employee and employer that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction,” attorney Meier wrote.

The New England Patriots also spoke out, saying they supported Diggs while adding that they planned to fully cooperate with authorities and the NFL.
