Dillian Whyte gives honest grade to Moses Itauma after first round knockout loss

Five months after his first-round stoppage defeat against Moses, this is going to hurt, Dillian Whyte revealed his thoughts on the highly-rated youngster, who many are tipping to be “the future of the heavyweight division.”

Itauma has stopped his last ten opponents in two rounds, his latest victim being two-time world title challenger Whyte, who lasted less than two minutes when charged with his fellow Briton in Riyadh.

However, talk to iFL TVWhyte surprisingly revealed he expected the 21-year-old to be quicker and more explosive, admitting that difficulties in camp played a part in his defeat.

“He is fast, [but] it’s not as fast as I thought. He’s not as fast or as explosive as I thought. [going to be].”

“I strayed from the game plan a little bit because we had to make some last minute adjustments in camp because some things happened and this and the other. So, I strayed from that and then I got caught.”

At 37, after a disappointing first round defeat, some fans are now starting to call for Whyte to hang up his gloves, but the Brixton-born ‘Body Snatcher’ went on to reveal his intention to take on the likes of Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr before walking away from the sport.

“There are a few guys left from my generation that I haven’t fought. Wilder is one of them, Wilder and Andy Ruiz, those kind of guys. I would love to fight those kind of guys, so I would have fought everyone from my generation.”

Although the date of Whyte’s next fight is unknown, Itauma will step into the ring in three weeks, as he faces Michigan’s Jermaine Franklin Jr at Co-op Live Arena, Manchesterheadlining for a second consecutive time.
