Ancient Saturday evening live actor Chris Redda claimed in a new video that he sold pills to his comrades.
Redd, 40, appeared as an actor for five seasons starting in 2017, debuting alongside Heidi Gardner in season 43, before bowing out of the series ahead of season 48 in 2022.
In a Instagram In a video posted on Tuesday, January 6, the comedian explained that he was going to “lead with a lot more vulnerability and openness” in his work and life going forward, which prompted him to come clean about his side hustle. SNL.
“While I was at the salon, I had some pill issues,” he said. “Nothing too crazy, but crazy about my black ass, you know? I was even selling some to some of my castmates. I’m not going to report you motherfuckers, man.”
Redd said he felt hurt that people on the show were “talking crap” about him while he was battling an addiction to pills, instead of supporting him.
“I would hear them because, you know, some of that Adderall shit got you super hearing and shit,” he said. “But [they] That wouldn’t help me, you know. I would have panic attacks, [they] wouldn’t worry about me or anything. I would just say shit. It’s crazy how someone could watch you destroy yourself, you know.
Redd is gone SNL in September 2022, ahead of the show’s 48th season, around the same time news emerged that he was dating his costar Kenan Thompsonthe ex-wife of Christina Evangeline.
“Be part of SNL has been the experience of a lifetime,” Redd said in a statement at the time. “Five years ago, I walked into 30 Rock knowing it was an incredible opportunity for growth. Now, with friends who have become family and memories I will cherish forever, I am grateful to Lorne Michaels and to all of SNL organization. From the bottom of my heart, I can never thank you enough.
The same month, a source exclusively told Us every week that “Christina and Chris started dating early this year,” adding that Evangeline and Redd met “before [Chris] started to do SNL» and we had been friends for years.
“They’ve always been very close. He was there for her last year during some of the hardest times of her life. … She seems to be the happiest she’s ever been. Her relationship with Chris is great and that’s okay,” the source said.
Redd also opened up about his relationship with Evangeline in Tuesday’s Instagram video. Redd said Evangeline, 36, helped him deal with his addiction issues while he was in SNL and “around that time we fell in love.”
Redd said Evangeline was “the only one to call me out on my bullshit, help me with my bullshit, she helped me in my therapeutic journey and she told me things about her life that made me look at a lot of people involved differently.”
“I felt bad from the beginning. It’s always been a double-edged emotional sword for me, because I really love everything that Kenan and I have done, bro,” said Redd, who also starred in Thompson’s NBC sitcom, Kenanadded. “I really enjoyed every job we did, I think we were a great team and I hate doing something to someone that I know could hurt them.”
